Applications for the Local Restrictions Support Grant (LRSG) have now opened. The window is scheduled to close at the end of the current lockdown period (December 2).
The grant is for businesses that have had to close due to the lockdown and it will be ring-fenced to businesses within the impacted sectors, which include non-essential retail, leisure, entertainment, personal care and hospitality.
The rateable value of your business property will determine how much grant you will be awarded for the month of restrictions:
In the Buckinghamshire Council area, the relevant numbers are:
£0-£15,000 £1,334
£15,001-£50,999 £2,000
£51,000+ £3,000
Qualification for the scheme is based on whether you/your company is the business rates payer and your property is listed in the local non-domestic rates rating list.
To be eligible you must have been trading on 4 November 2020 and have been required to close on 5 November 2020 by the Government’s national restrictions.
You will need to provide your business rates reference number.
Non-essential retail premises such as pubs and cafes are still eligible to receive a grant if they continue to offer delivery and click and collect services, where items are pre-ordered without entering the premises.
A list of businesses that may qualify for the Local Restrictions Support Grant (closed) because they have been required to close can be found on GOV.UK: Businesses subject to restrictions.
You will not be entitled to this grant if:
• you have chosen to close (rather than being instructed to close by the Government) due to lack of trade during the month
• you remain open and have not been instructed to close by the Government, for example offices, factories, workshops and other small businesses
However, you may instead qualify for an Additional Restrictions Grant, which will be launched in the coming days.
This grant is for businesses whose turnover has been badly impacted by the restrictions but who are not eligible for the LRSG. This will be a discretionary grant open for a longer period of time.
