Soon, Katie was on the books of a recruitment agency and we had no hesitation offering her a job as a trainee accountant.
“I feel I have developed all round at Harwood Hutton,” said Katie, 25. “On the professional side, I’m trusted to look after some important clients, and on the personal side, I am so much more confident. I’m quite a shy person but I’ve really come out of my shell at here.
“I’ve developed my skills in being able to adapt to different situations and different personalities, and if I need advice on anything, there’s always someone here to talk to. When I started, I leaned on the trainees who were further down the line in their training. Now, our newer trainees can lean on me if they want to discuss anything.”
Katie loves the social scene and culture at Harwood Hutton and although that’s been a bit hamstrung by Covid, she is looking forward to the return of payday drinks at one of the local Beaconsfield pubs. “There’s a great sense of camaraderie among the trainees, and we can all see a clear pathway forward for us in the firm.
“I’m quite an ambitious person but what I love at Harwood Hutton is that there is no undue pressure on you: you can progress at your own pace. For me, that means feeling totally on top of what I’m doing before I look to push on.”
