Clients of Harwood Hutton are eligible to participate in our Tax Investigation Service, which delivers comprehensive protection against the fees arising from professional representation in the event HMRC opens an enquiry into your tax affairs.
HMRC enquiries are being undertaken with an unprecedented level of detail and persistence. In 2019/20, the total tax revenue increased by £8.8bn to £636.7bn with compliance activity yielding £36.9bn – an 8.2% increase in additional tax on 2018/19.
The potential cost of defending yourself professionally continues to be huge. Enquiries are taking longer and the defence costs are increasing. Even when the outcome of the enquiry results in no adjustments to your tax position, the cost of the defence can be very costly.
Our protection service offers up to £125,000 of accountancy fees and full representation to HMRC on your behalf, including all correspondence and interaction.
Coverage for Coronavirus support schemes plus gift aid cover and SDLT
Our solution will now also protect for any investigations into approved Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme and Self-Employment Income Support Scheme payments, as well as gift aid cover and Stamp Duty Land Tax and its regional equivalents.
Free Business Legal Helpline
As an additional benefit, all business clients who subscribe to the service are eligible for 24-hour access to a business legal helpline. Available 365 days a year, the team of qualified solicitors can assist with employment law as well as health and safety and commercial matters.
Unfortunately, we cannot stop you from being selected for an enquiry but we can ensure you can afford a full defence if it happens.
